The Ridge View cross country teams were well represented at the Western Valley Conference meet in Mapleton on Saturday. The Ridge View girls claimed three of the top six places, as Jaycie Vohs, Addy Tesch, and Madison Stowater placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Vohs finished with a time of 21:13.11, while Tesch and Stowater turned in times of 22:15.65 and 22:35.91. Xaria Rojas completed the course in 25 minutes flat, while Molly Reiss was close behind with a time of 25:59.95.
The Ridge View boys and girls cross country squads took part in the South Central Calhoun Invite in Lake City last Tuesday. In the girls race, Jaycie Vohs finished 11th out of 75 runners with a time of 21:21.94. Addison Tesch finished in the top 20 with a time of 22:47.43. Madison Stowater finished in the top 30, completing the course in a time of 24:27.49. Molly Reiss turned in a time of 27:21.93, while Xaria Rojas was close behind with a time of 27:42.97. Kinzie Hagen contributed a time of 29:10.91, while Tess Pacza crossed the finish line in 32:08.59.
The Ridge View football squad ran into a tough defense on Friday night at Emmetsburg, as the E-Hawks topped the Raptors 27-0. Emmetsburg scored on the first Ridge View possession, as a defender intercepted a pass and returned the ball to the end zone for a pick six and a 7-0 lead. The E-Hawks scored on a touchdown run in the second quarter to increase the lead to 14-0 at halftime. Emmetsburg scored again in the third quarter to make the margin 21-0 after three periods of play. A touchdown in the fourth quarter brought the final score to 27-0.
The Ridge View volleyball squad traveled to Correctionville last Monday, with a goal of bringing home the conference tournament championship. The Raptor girls did not disappoint, defeating Westwood 2-1 in the semi-finals before taking down River Valley 2-0 in the championship match.
The Ridge View cross country squads took part in the Denison-Schleswig cross country meet last Tuesday in Denison. In the girls race, the Raptors’ Jaycie Vohs finished in 12th place out of 74 competitors with a time of 21:46.59. Freshman Addy Tesch claimed a spot in the top 30 with a time of 23:13.59. Madison Stowater was close behind with a time of 23:51.01. Molly Reiss turned in a time of 27:05.04, while Xaria Rojas contributed a time of 27:47.48. Kinzie Hagen and Tess Pacza crossed the finish line in 29:31.28 and 34:10.94, respectively.
The Ridge View Raptors football team ran into a tough West Sioux (Hawarden) squad on Friday night in Holstein. The Falcons jumped out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter, and increased the margin to 35-0 at halftime. Ridge View tightened up the defense in the second half, holding West Sioux scoreless the rest of the game. The Raptors’ offense was held in check however, and 35-0 would wind up being the final score. Ridge View managed only 27 passing yards and 35 rushing yards. Raptors coach Brian Bode, who had singled out West Sioux as the preseason district favorite, discussed the contest.

In the girls race, Jaycie Vohs finished tenth out of 78 runners with a time of 21:26.63. Addy Tesch finished in the top 20 with a time of 22:51.56. Madison Stowater was close behind with a time of 24:04.68. Xaria Rojas turned in a time of 26:13.50, while Molly Reiss completed the course in 27:11.68. Kinzie Hagen contributed a time of 29:07.15, while Tess Pacza crossed the finish line in 32:37.07. The Raptors finished sixth out of nine squads in the team standings.
The Ridge View football squad broke open a 15-15 halftime tie, scoring early in the second half, and sealing the win with a fumble recovery in the end zone for a 29-15 homecoming victory. The Raptors got on the board first with a four-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jake Breyfogle. The extra point was good, making the score 7-0 at the seven minute mark of the first quarter. Sioux Central would answer with a short touchdown run of their own in the second quarter. The two-point conversion was good, and the Rebels claimed an 8-7 lead.
The Ridge View volleyball team found itself sitting atop the Western Valley Conference standings heading into the conference tournament. The Raptors sport an unblemished 6-0 conference record, while their overall record is an impressive 19-3. OABCIG, meanwhile, is currently tied for third with a conference mark of 4-2. The Falcons’ overall record is a respectable 11-9. The complete conference standings are as follows:
The Ridge View volleyball squad got a fairly tough match from the Westwood Rebels last Tuesday at Sloan, but the Raptors pulled off a 3-1 victory by scores of 25-21, 25-10, 21-25, and 25-22. Ridge View was led at the net by Sydney Blackmore with 10 kills, followed closely by Rowan Jensen with nine kills. Kiara Dutler was right behind them with seven kills. Taya Phillips and Lilly Whitmer led the team in assists with 18 apiece.
