The Ridge View boys basketball squad jumped out to an 18-11 lead after the first quarter on Friday night in Ida Grove. In the second quarter, OABCIG outscored the Raptors 24-12 to grab a 35-30 halftime lead. The Falcons pushed the lead to 56-42 after three quarters of play, and cruised to a 70-53 victory from there.
A fast start helped propel the Ridge View boys basketball squad to a ten point victory over MVAO-COU last Tuesday at Mapleton. The Raptors jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter. The Rams would respond in the second quarter, outscoring Ridge View 11-4 to pull within 24-19 at halftime. A low-scoring third quarter ended with the Raptors still clinging to a five-point lead at 30-25 heading into the final period. Ridge View would seal the win in the fourth quarter, pulling away for a 51-41 victory.
The Ridge View girls basketball squad ran into a tough MVAO-COU team last Tuesday at Mapleton. The Raptors fell behind 17-8 after the first quarter, then saw the Rams extend the margin to 32-16 at halftime. Ridge View came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Rams 18-11 to close the gap to 43-34 heading into the fourth quarter. MVAO-COU would seal the win in the final period, however, coming away with the 60-44 victory.
The Ridge View boys basketball squad earned a quality win at Sloan on Friday night. The Raptors built a 21-12 lead after one quarter. The Rebels came flying back in the second quarter, however, and Ridge View went into the halftime break leading by a slim 33-32 margin. In the third quarter, Westwood outscored the Raptors 17-13 to take a 49-46 lead heading into the final period. The fourth quarter belonged to Ridge View, as they outscored Westwood by 10 to secure a 63-56 victory. The Raptors were led in scoring by Kyler Wunschel with 13 points.
The Ridge View girls wrestling team had one of their best performances of the season at the Carroll Kuemper Catholic Girls Tournament, held on Dec. 20. Although no team scores were kept at this tournament, Ridge View turned in a dominant performance. Individual placings were:
The Ridge View boys wrestling team followed up their championship performance at the Raptor Duals by traveling to Lawton on Dec. 19 for a Western Valley Conference quad meet. Despite forfeiting five weights due to illness and injury, the boys were victorious over Lawton-Bronson 42-36 but fell to MVAOCOU 54-21 and Woodbury Central 70-6. The Westwood girls used a big fourth quarter to pull away from Ridge View on Friday night at Sloan. The Rebels, undefeated and ranked fifth in the state, claimed a 17-12 lead after the first quarter. The Raptors outscored Westwood 13-12 in the second quarter to trail only 29-25 at the halftime break. The Rebels expanded the margin to 39-31 after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Westwood blew the game wide open, outscoring Ridge View 20-3 to post the 59-34 win. The Raptors’ season record now stands at 3-4.
The Ridge View boys basketball squad fought back from a 20-point halftime deficit against Manson-Northwest Webster last Monday in Holstein. The Raptors clawed their way back to cut the lead to single digits, but in the end it was too big an obstacle to overcome as Ridge View lost a 65-50 decision.
The Ridge View girls basketball squad was edged out by Manson-Northwest Webster in a defensive struggle last Monday at Holstein. It was the Raptors who grabbed an early lead of 8-6 after one quarter. The second quarter belonged to the Cougars, however, as they took a 17-11 lead into the halftime break. MNW pushed the lead to 10 after three quarters, 31-21. Ridge View fought back in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to four, but could get no closer and suffered the 39-34 loss.
The Ridge View girls basketball squad got off to a fast start against an OABCIG team that has been playing much better as of late. The Raptors took a 12-3 lead after the first quarter, then expanded the margin to 28-10 at halftime. The third quarter was highly competitive, leaving Ridge View with a 40-21 lead heading into the final period. The Raptors were able to cruise to a 57-35 win from there.
