The Ridge View girls basketball squad opened the Western Valley Conference tournament with a 62-35 defeat of OABCIG. The two teams traded baskets in the early part of the game before the Raptors went on a run and built a 16-7 lead after one quarter. A fairly competitive second quarter ended with Ridge View taking a 34-19 lead into the halftime break. The Raptors outscored the Falcons 14-6 in the third quarter to take a 48-25 lead after three periods. Ridge View finished the game strong to advance to the second round of the conference tournament with a 62-35 win.
The Ridge View boys basketball squad finished the regular season on a high note, defeating Ar-We-Va 61-52 at Schaller. A competitive first quarter ended with Ridge View leading 14-10. The two teams battled each other even in the second quarter, which ended with Ridge View taking a 25-21 lead into the halftime break. The Raptors came out strong after halftime and outscored the Rockets 22-11 in the third quarter to take a 47-32 cushion heading into the final period.
The Ridge View girls basketball squad easily dispatched of Ar-We-Va last Monday at Schaller. The Raptors built a 17-6 lead after one quarter, then extended the margin to 36-10 at halftime. The lead swelled to 50-15 after three quarters, and Ridge View coasted to a 57-17 victory.

The Ridge View girls basketball squad wasted little time in taking control of their contest with Woodbury Central on Friday night. The Raptors built a 20-5 lead after one quarter, and expanded the margin to 35-14 at halftime. Ridge View maintained that lead in the third quarter, taking a 46-25 lead into the final period. The Raptors finished out the game strong to come away with the 60-31 victory.
After a highly competitive first half, the Ridge View boys basketball squad used a strong third quarter to turn away Siouxland Christian last Tuesday in Sioux City. A tight first quarter ended with the Raptors ahead 14-12. The Eagles shaved the margin by a point in the second quarter and Ridge View went into the halftime break leading only 31-30. The third quarter was a different story, however, as the Raptors outscored Siouxland Christian 17-4 in that period to take a commanding 48-34 lead into the fourth quarter. Ridge View then finished the game strong to take home the 62-44 victory.
In a battle of Ida County teams, the Ridge View girls basketball squad jumped out to a 9-0 lead against OABCIG, and led 11-2 after one quarter. A competitive second quarter saw the Raptors take a 26-13 lead into the halftime break. Ridge View came out strong after halftime and scored the first 12 points of the third quarter, and led 52-20 after three quarters. The Falcons kept battling and won the fourth quarter, but the Raptors came away with the 58-32 win.
The Ridge View wrestling squad defeated Denison 58-21 on January 11. Winning by fall for the Raptors were Lucas Else, Austin Pyle, Ian Shepherd, Kody Jacobson, and Logan Pickhinke. Winning by Major Decision was Conner Jacobson.
The Ridge View girls competed in the Ogden tournament on January 8. Shania Graybill, Izzy Deeds, and Daynia Werner all took home first place finishes for the Raptors. Tatum Shepherd finished second and Dani Kron finished third.
In a key Western Valley Conference basketball matchup, the OABCIG boys came out on top of Ridge View 59-26. Both teams entered the contest with 5-1 conference records. The Falcons built a 10-4 lead in the first quarter, but the Raptors rallied to trim the margin to 15-13 at the first quarter break. OABCIG would own the second quarter, however, outscoring Ridge View 13-1 to take a 28-14 lead at halftime. The Falcons extended the lead to 44-21 after three quarters before finishing the game strong to secure the 59-26 victory.
