The Holstein City Council met at the City Hall on Monday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. Council members in attendance were Regennitter, Schimmer, Stevenson, Wiese, and Voss, as well as Mayor Breyfogle.
Sheriff Wade Harriman was present to report on the countywide law budget for fiscal year 2023-2024. He also discussed open and filled positions in the sheriff’s office.
The Rosemary Clausen Center had a host of great musicians and actors in the talent show titled Holstein’s Got Talent. There were a variety of offerings from a piano solo to a flute solo to an array of vocal soloists, which made the show fabulous on Sunday afternoon, March 12. There were also actors in skits, jokes and an after dinner speech that made the audience roar with laughter.
Ida County has a new County Assessor, and she is eager to meet and help the public. Claudia Comstock started in November and was joined by Assessor’s Office Manager Dalton Treiber in December. Comstock discussed how she came to be the new Assessor.
POPS 2023 Concert performed stunningly at the Rosemary Clausen Center March 6 evening. The directors of this amazing event were Mr. Jonah Kistenmacher and Mrs. Kris Kistenmacher. Playing percussion at times was Adam Dreeszen. To begin the evening, the Jazz Band wowed us with such musical events as Heart and Soul and My Funny Valentine. The Concert Choir then paraded the stage in their tie-dyed t-shirts and sparkling sunglasses singing tunes like Party in the USA and The Lion Sleeps tonight. Their fondness of the songs showed wonderfully in the event.
The 2nd Annual Health and Vendor Fair at Cobblestone Inn and Suites in Holstein presented speakers and many vendors who serve Ida County. The two speakers were from Cherokee Regional Medical Center with topics such as Advance Care Planning. The vendors were such organizations as Horn Memorial, Angels Care Home Health, Cherokee Regional Medical Center, Golden Horizons and many more. All the vendors had give-aways and spoke of their local services to Ida County.
Letters From Home-50 State Tour is an exciting show coming to the Rosemary Clausen Center on March 28 at 7 p.m. This tour honors and uplifts veterans from all generations and will definitely make all who come smile and have a good time. The tour started in Florida in January and then headed west with the Rosemary Clausen Center being the 23rd stop, managing to hit all 50 states by the end of May. The only Iowa stop is special because the proceeds go to the veterans of Ida County.
Nicole Boyle (Wholehearted and Healthy Physical Therapy, PLLC) presented to local women in Holstein at Francis and Co store on Feb. 20. She led women in a plan to help deal with hormonal changes in the body. Hormones can create incredible changes in the body. Boyle stressed to recognize hormone changes such as irritability, anxiousness, digestive problems, excessive cravings, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, weight gain, low libido, and mood swings.
The Divas3 gave a great performance at the Rosemary Clausen Center Saturday, March 4. A nice crowd enjoyed the show.
The Divas3 are powerhouse Las Vegas vocalists who perform the chart topping hits of the greatest divas in music history from the 1960s through the 1990s. Their three-part harmony arrangements pay tribute to some of the era’s most iconic artists including Cher, Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston, and more.
SCHALLER - After U.S. Postal Inspectors determined a residence in Schaller was receiving deliveries of THC, two people have been arrested on multiple felony charges including a firearms violation.
The residence at 407 East 3rd Street, Schaller, was suspected to be receiving packages THC edibles.
After postal inspectors notified the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, officers undertook surveillance with Juliette Munoz, 28, grabbing the packages. Officers then sought a search warrant, which was executed at both the house and at an outbuilding.
Kristina Cronin opened up Francis and Co. for all your baby needs in Holstein. She has been in business for five months now, opening up in September. Francis and Co. is named after her two-year-old son. Cronin states that she took ownership of the building and did a complete remodel. She has since been serving the community well with all your baby needs. Cronin says,
