City eyes tree removal, school banners

Private citizens can earn compensation from the City of Holstein for clearing out dead or diseased trees.

During its Sept. 5 meeting, city council heard from Public Works Director Scott Niemeier about the idea of allowing residents to take on tree removal in the right of way for trees that are dead or diseased or that pose a danger.

This would allow for residents to avoid the wait for the city to get around to it and save the city the cost and time involved.

Council members liked the idea and voted to offer a bounty of $100 for residents who want to do so.
